Thrity pregnant women who visited Busan National University Hospital were evaluated with ultrasonography and titrated serum ¥â-hCG for early detection of pregnancy. The results of this study were summarized as follows. In seven out of eight women of IUP 5 weeks, gestational sacs were found by transvaginal ultrasound, five out of eight by transabdominal ultra sound,. In all cases of IUP 6 weeks, gestational sacs were found by transvaginal ultrasound, ten out of twelve by transabdominal ultrasound. From IUP 7 weeks to 8 weeks, inall cases, gestational sacs were found by both transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. The interrelation between gestational age and serum ¥â-hCG was statistically significant. The regression line was log y=0.028x + 3.187. The coefficient of correlation was 0.578(p<0.01). The interrelation between gestational sac size and serum ¥â-hCG was statistically significant. The regression line was log y= 0.023x +4.067. The coefficient of correlation was 0.467(p<0.01). The interrelation between gestational age and gestational sac size in vaginal ultrasound was y=0.639x-11.168, coefficient correlation was 0.654(p<0.01), the interrelation between gestational age and gestational sac size in transabdominal ultrasound was y=0.829x-20.515. The coefficient of correlation was 0.836, so both statistically significant.
